* There is an ongoing debate about whether 200 sport coupes and 1 convertible were built for a total of 201 Malibu SS 396 Chevelles. To date, to my knowledge, the convertible is rumored to be a gold with gold interior car but has never been documented. GMs own statements about the release of the car indicate that 200 would be built at Kansas City and all would be sport coupes. Taking this into account and adding the prototype built at Baltimore gives us the 201 total.
